A sketch by Livingstone of Andrew Agnew as shown in the book "Hereditary Sheriffs of Galloway" by Sir Andrew Agnew (Scotland) 1893:
"I have sometimes in his house all knight, and found it was his ordinary way to spend the mornings alone till the family convened, and cushions were cast down; and then being called out of his closet, he went to worship, and prayed both earnestly and confidently, after which he retired to his chamber without ever taking notice who was in the hall, till meat was set upon the table; and then he came out and welcomed his guests very kindly."

Been looking a bit more after your last email.I have pencilled in on the chart that Alexander had properties and land in -
Ballyclug (Town of the Bell) which is on the Larne Road, in Lower Co. Antrim; Finvoy at Ballymoney which is where John who married Elizabeth is buried in the Old Graveyard; Tobergill (beside Donegore) and is near Larne; Ballymaglaff in Co. Down where Alexander of Ballymaglaff lived - he was one of the sons of John's son James and is incidentally an ancestor of Brian Quinn of the Forum (haven't been in touch with him for a long long time!) - and I have one more - Craigmore which I am not sure where it is.
I don't really think this will mean a lot for you, but it will complete a bit more of Alexander's history.
