Charles I, Roi de France was born on 13 June 823 in Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany.2 He is the son of Louis I, Roi de France and Judith von Bayern.1 He married Ermentrude d'Orléans, daughter of Odo, Comte de Orléans, in 842. He married Richilde Gräfin von Metz, daughter of Beuve Graf von Metz, on 22 January 870 in a Aix-la-Chapelle, France marriage.2 He died on 6 October 877 at age 54 in Brides-les-Bains, Burgundy, France.2
Charles I, Roi de France also went by the nick-name of Charles 'the Bald'.3 He gained the title of Roi Charles I de France in 840.1 He was crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 875.4 He succeeded to the title of Emperor Charles II of the Holy Roman Empire in 875.4
