I am researching the family of Reuben Roberts, born in 1752, in Port Royal, VA or SC (not sure which). Reuben Roberts enlisted in the Revolutionary War as a private, 1779, served under Captain George Summerlin, George Ross, Lt. McCorklin, Col. Eli Kershal and Gen. Sumter. He engaged in the Battle of Briar Creek, served as a guide for Col. Washington, General Morgan. He also served as a Scout. When he was wounded by the Tories at Dearings or Little Fleet Rock Creek, he never recovered the use of the third finger of his left hand. Reuben Roberts married Margaret (Peggy) Hudson in 1778 and they had ten children: William, Luke, Reuben Jr., James, Henry, Judith, Peggy, Sallie, Carrie, and Agnes. Any information would be appreciated. | |
