2. ARTHUR¹² HERBERT (THOMAS¹¹, MATTHEW¹⁰, EDWARD⁹, WATKIN⁸, WILLIAM⁷, RICHARD⁶, WILLIAM⁵ AP THOMAS, THOMAS AP⁴ GWILLYM, GWILYM AP³ JENKIN, JENKIN AP² ADAM, ADAM AP¹ HERBERT) was born 1668 in Currans, Co. Kerry, and died 1747 in bur. Castleisland. He married MARY BASTABLE ABT 1692 in Castleislanmd?, Co Kerry, daughter of GEORGE BASTABLE. She was born ABT 1672 in Castleisland, Co. Kerry, and died 1728.

ARTHUR HERBERT 1670~ - 1747

Thomas Herbert's second son, Arthur Herbert of Currans, was born about 1668. He was baptized in Catleisland, and was probably only a small child when his father died. Arthur received his schooling from a Mr. Richardson, and entered the University of Dublin in November, 1687 at age 19. Arthur married Mary Bastable about 1692, the only daughter and heiress of George Bastable of Castleisland, County Kerry. No titles have been found for Arthur, and not much is known about his life, however he is referred to as "Armiger" in the Trinity College, Dublin records, where his son, Edward, attended and "gentleman" when his son John attended. He very likely spend most of his time building up and managing the property which he inherited from his father. Currans was probably a sizable farm located in County Kerry, about ten miles north of Killarney.
(Currans today is a still farming area. The "town" consists of just a few small buildings - one of which is a pub, another is an old garage. The surrounding area is all farming land. The original estate is now a working farm, and one of the buildings appears to have survived. I think the property was divided and sold in the late 1800's.\
Arthur Herbert and Mary Bastable had eight sons and five daughters. Mary died in 1728, Arthur died in 1747 at the age of about 79.

3. EDWARD¹² HERBERT (THOMAS¹¹, MATTHEW¹⁰, EDWARD⁹, WATKIN⁸, WILLIAM⁷, RICHARD⁶, WILLIAM⁵ AP THOMAS, THOMAS AP⁴ GWILLYM, GWILYM AP³ JENKIN, JENKIN AP² ADAM, ADAM AP¹ HERBERT) was born 1660 in Currans, Kerry, Ireland, and died 1737. He married AGNES CROSBIE ABT 1685. She was born 1665 in Turbid.
