A Queenly Future
August 19, 1968
Not next year, but perhaps in about 17 years a possible Harvest Queen contestant may be Michele Lee Cliff, who was born Monday in Genesee Hospital.
She has a good start toward that goal, in fact a double good start. Her mother, Mrs. Allen Cliff, is the former Mary Fallen, Monroe County Harvest Queen of 1965, and little Michele was delivered by Dr. John Schultz, a Harvest Queen judge who helped pick her mother three years ago.
Mrs. Cliff, daughter of Paul Fallen of Starwood Drive, is residing with her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Cliff of 20 Wheldon Street, Scottsville, while her husband is stationed in An Khe, Vietnam. They were married December 1966, and have a son, Michael, 13 months.
A TELEGRAM has been sent through the Red Cross to notify Army Spec. 4 Cliff of his 6 lb. 4 oz. daughter's birth. He has been stationed in Vietnam since January and is expected to return home next February.
The 5 foot 3 former queen and her husband decided on the name Michele if the baby was a girl because it "went well with their son's name, Michael," according to Cliff's mother.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Cliff are graduates of Wheatland-Chili High School. His father is superintendent of Irondequoit schools. (Note: error - Should read Wheatland-Chili Schools)
Mrs. Cliff represented Wheatland-Chili in the Harvest Queen contest, which is sponsored annually by the Times-Union and The Democrat and Chronicle.
