Ancestors of Sharon Harmon & G.M. LaTante.
I am researching Mike LaTante's Family from 1792 Canada. Family lines Tebo (Thiebault) from 1860 US Census, Carrick from 1900 US Census, LaTante from 1900 US Census (LaTant or LaTange are other possible spellings), (France) McCarthy, (Ireland).Some spouses in the Tebo line include family names Lamica, Champaign, DelVille & Grant.
All from New York State, St. Lawrence & Franklin Counties.
Peter & Mary Tebo DOB 1792 Canada is earlist ancestor so far. There son Peter Tebo married Margaret DelVille, also of Canada. There children were Frank, Amelia, Luke, Albert, Esther, John & William Tebo & others in Malone, NY. Luke was a civil war veteran, (cavalry pvt.)
George McCarthy came from Dublin, Ireland in aprox 1880. All that is known of him is he had a brother named Alphonse and a sister Kathleen. George married Nellie Mae Tebo, Daughter of Albert Tebo, abt 1899.
John Carrick was born in 1861 in Ireland. He had a very interesting hisory (if true), he served in the British Army in India and after this was shang-hai'd into the British Navy, eventually jumping ship in Montreal. His daughter Edith married Guy LaTant, son of Delos LaTant.
Delos LaTant was originally from France, or Corsica, tho US Census (1900) says he was from Canada. He was supposedly on the run from something there where his name had originally been LaTange. He changed this to LaTant. The "e" was added by his daughter-in-law Edith.
I would appreciate any information & will share any information I have aquired so far. My main interest is personal information as well as public history. Such as Luke Tebo's record as a Pvt. in the 4th Mass. Cavalry from 1864-1865.
