My fourth great grandfather, Benjamin Rogers, resided in Monroe County, Georgia. The U S Census, indicates he was born circa 1793, in North Carolina. His son, Eli B. Rogers lived, for a time, in the same county, then moved, to Taylor County, Georgia, where he and his eldest son, William joined the Confederacy. My second great grandfather, Eli Jackson Rogers, was born, there in Butler. The family later moved, to Mitchell County, Georgia, near Pelham. Some of the family, remained there, while Eli B. moved again, to Gilchrist County, Florida. Eli B. died there, in Trenton, while his son Eli Jackson moved further south, to Citrus County, Florida. Some descendants still reside, in all, of these places, while others, have moved to Lakeland, Eustis, Orlando, and even as far west as Colorado.
