I became interested in genealogy a couple of years ago and with the help of many friends and cousins I have discovered that I am descended from President John Tyler. One cousin has put together a bound book on the Tylers of Texas, which includes an index. Would like to share copies of old photos of these families. I have provided links to other Tyler families.
I am also descended from the Carsons who came from Ireland, settled in North Carolina, served in the Revolutionary War and later moved to Brazos County, Texas.
My father's family originally came from England, into Roane County, Tennessee and then to southwestern Missouri. Would like to learn stories about these families in the Ozarks.
My step-father's family were from Pennsylvania. I'm having difficulty tracing the Treon family. If you have any information on Wilson Gustus Treon who moved to Fair Grove, Mo from Pennsylvania please e-mail me.
Along with English, and Irish ancestors there is also some German. My Great Grandfather was William Henry Fray, born in Marion County, Missouri about 1853. He was in Missouri by 1883, died in Oklahoma but can't locate his family prior to 1850. If you are researching a Fray family, would like to hear from you.
My husband's Great Grandfather George William Rogers family originated in Giles County, Tennesse. They migrated to Texas, in the late 1880's, with their son Van Cleveland Rogers b. 17 February 1884. He married a Mary Elizabeth McMillen. She later married a John Hugh Harrison in Texas about 1890. Have not been able to find his parents or other family. Would also like to hear from any Perry T. Thompson descendants. Perry married Caroline Brewer in Champaign, Illinois and moved through Dade County, Missouri and on into Oklahoma and married Nellie Miller Spencer.
Any comments corrections and/or additions would be appreciated. Many thanks to all who have helped me.
How like a patchwork quilt we are; Some of us are bright and gay. Some are quieter, more delicate and subdued. Yet how well we blend together The quieter ones set off the colorful The brighter ones accentuate the pastels Often the more fragil pieces Hold the sturdy ones together Blessed are we who are varied All of us are stitched and tied to one another.
