Notes for John S. Carson: Notes: per Alan Carson, Austin, TX e-mail 9/15/2000 "Something interesting about Leon County - that is where John S. Carson had his original land grant - I have copies of all the related papers from the Texas Land Commission. His son Thomas H. stayed in Leon while John S. and Nathan F. went to Brazos Co., Texas. My Grandfather, Alfred Burton Carson was raised in Leon Co. John S. had a grandson by a daughter who had died by 1850 in MS named Nathan F. Pickens and by 1880 NFP was in Hamilton Co. Nathan F. Carson died in Commanche Co. while visiting family there."
JRC's father was second cousin to John S. Carson, who owned 3 sections of land and 18 slaves up until he died in March of 1865, per e-mail, Alan Carson 11/8/2000, acarson@morganti.com, he and I both feel that JR must have known he was related to the Carson's in Bryan, TX when coming from Georgia
per notes of Alveeta Tyler Treon "He was from Galdwin Co. Mississippi Territory and went to Texas. Is recorded in 1860 cenus of Brazos Co., TX, at age 74, On March 4, 1845 he received a land grant from the Republic of Texas at age 59 approx."
