Notes for Frank Herbert Atwell: Frank was the youngest son of Emma & Stephen Atwell. He was born in Beulah on 27th March, 1895. He spent his early years in the Wimmera & Mallee working for district farmer. He told stories of riding on horse back to dances and arriving home in time for work the next day. On 19th november, 1929, He married Lucy Maude Jeffreys, the widow of his brother Albert, at Hindmarsh, South Australia. They ran a mixed business there and then moved to Mt. Gambier where their daughter Joan was born. This was in the depression tears and work was hard to come by so they moved to Portland, Victoria. Frank picked apples and worked at Borthwicks Meat Works during WW2. Later he worked at Portland & District Hospital as a gardener and storeman until he retired in 1969. Lucy died in 1971 and Frank in 1982.
