Notes for Nancy Adeline Everett:
The information that I have on Nancy Adeline Everett comes from census records, marraige records, and family lore.

She was born about 1824 in Tennessee and died after 1870 in Texas. The first record of her is the marriage license granted in Greene Co.,MO on the 7th of June, 1846, to Sebert Smith and Nancy A. Everett. She is next found in the 1850, Searcy Co., Tomahawk Twp, AR, with her husband Sebert and step-son, Emmanuel Jackson Smith, and her son, John S. Smith, age, 2. The next account of her is the 1860 Bosque Co., Clifton, TX Census. She is there with her husband, Sebert and step-son, Emmanuel, and her children, John S., Jesse N., William S., Mary L., and Nancy C. There is a gap between 1860 and 1870 where she cannot be found. She reappears in Hamilton Co.,TX living with her daughter's in-laws. Her daughter, Jane, married William Banta, Jr., son of William M. and Lucinda Banta, and both Jane and her husband and mother lived with the William Banta, Sr. family. Nancy's husband, Sebert, is not with them.

It would seem, from family lore, that Nancy Everett could be the daughter of John S. and Susan Emaline Franks. She named her first son, John S. and the Smiths lived near many Everett families associated with the John S. Everett clan, both in AR and in TX. My grandfather, Gilbert Jackson Smith did not know the names of his grandparents, but he did know that his grandmother had a sister named Cynthia Everett, she married a Blackwell, lived near Killeen, TX and was blind. According to the Coryell County History Book, pages 228 and 229, John S. Everett had a daughter, Cynthia Carolina Everett. This Cynthia did indeed marry John Milton Blackwell. The account goes on to tell that Cynthia was blind and that she died in 1935.

From the book, HISTORY OF CORYELL COUNTY, it states that John Sanders Everett had five brothers, Ewell, I.B. "Bart", Simmons, Hayne, and Jesse N. The article states that only John and Jesse were known to have come to Texas. We know that Hayne and a Thomas Ewell Everett came to TX and setteled in Bosque Co., TX (from the article written by Myrtle Jacob Prince Mitchell, a descendant of Sim Everett).

Notes for Sabot Smith:
Sebert Smith, spellings, Sebe, Tabot, Sabot, Seibert, etc., has been shown to have been born in IL, TN, so I'm not sure which census record is correct, if any. I have been looking for Sebert in Marion Co., but in all likely-hood, I will find his records in Izard Co.,AR. I find Nancy and Sabot Smith living in Searcy Co.,Tomahawk Township, AR, in 1850. He is 29 at the time and is a farmer. This census says that he was born in TN. His wife, Nancy, is 26 and she is said to have been born in TN, also.

Sebe and Nancy were married in Greene Co.,MO June 7, 1846, so this leads me to believe that Emmanuel Jackson is the son from another marriage. The child, John S. is 2, so this is the son of Sebe and Nancy. Ten years later in Bosque Co.,TX, Sebe and Nancy have four more children. They left AR between 1854 and 1857. William S. was born 1854 in AR and Mary L. was born 1857 in TX. In the 1860 census of Clifton, Bosque Co.,TX there are six Everett families living near the Smiths.

In the 1860 census, John S. Everett (63) and Susan (53) Franks Everett are in Coryell Co.,TX. At some point between 1860 and 1880, the Smiths moved to or near Hamilton Co., TX. In 1880, Jesse N. Smith and Ruth Mae Brandon Smith are living in Lampasas Co.,TX. Jesse Smith states in the census that he was born in AR. and probably was born in Searcy Co.,AR. Sebe and Nancy were in Searcy Co.,AR in 1850 and Jesse N. Smith was born in 1851. Searcy Co. was formed in 1838 from Marion Co. The county seat of Searcy is Marshall.

There are two graves in the Hurst Ranch Cemetery near W.K. Brandon and wife Mary Susana Smith Brandon that say only Mother and Father Smith. Could this be Sebert and Nancy Everett Smith?
