Joseph Gilman Allen and 5. Sarah Burnham Mears. He married 3. Carrie Maude Batchelder 01 Nov 1892 in Essex, Essex Country, Massachusetts.

      3. Carrie Maude Batchelder, born 22 Sep 1872 in Chichester, New Hampshire; died 21 Jan 1963 in Sea View Convalescent and Nursing Home, Central Street, Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of 6. George E. Batchelder and 7. Mary Katherine Emerson.

Notes for Joseph Elmer Allen:
      Joseph Allen worked as a butcher in Hamilton for Gould's in 1918. He drove a covered wagon to sell meat from house to house in Hamilton, Wenham and Essex. He belonged to the Unitarian Church and went to the Essex Falls Elementary School for eight years. He was a third degree Mason in 1912, and 7th degree Mason and a Masonic instructor for the Joseph Webb Lodge in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He removed to Dorchester, Massachusetts and worked as a steam fitter until he moved back to Essex in 1917 to work in the United Shoe in Beverly during the strike. In 1918 he again began to work for Gould's in Hamilton. He had residences in Essex, Boston and Brighton. He was a seventh degree Mason. He was admitted to the Massonic Nursing Home in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, on 4 March 1932, and he died on 12 March 1932 at 10:40 PM. He was buried in Essex, Massachusetts.

Notes for Carrie Maude Batchelder:
Carrie's father or grandfather found some gold nuggets when he went west during the gold rush. Carrie wore the gold nuggets on a chain around her neck. Her son, Stan, wanted to sell them to pay for her nursing home in her later years, but one son, Bill, sold them and went on a vacation to Hawaii, causing a rift between the Allen brothers.

  Notes for Leonore Carrie Allen:
      Lenore received her name from the covered wagon her grandfather rode in as a gold miner in California. Her mother, Carrie, wore a necklace with the gold nuggets he found. She was widowed young and her young babies were adopted out to family members. Later she remarried and adopted a boy, Thomas MacCormack.

On his World War I registration card, dated June 5, 1917 in Westboro, Massachusetts, Waldo Emerson Cooper is listed as a leather worker and bookkeeper, employed by James R. Cooper, Westboro, Massachusetts. He also listed a wife and two children and a residence at 11 Beach Street, Westboro, Mass. He died in the great influenza epidemic of 1918.
