The Rolston Family of Rockingham County, Va., is confirmed to William Rolston [Ralston, Rolstone & many other variations](1757 to 1807) and his wife Mary Hopkins (1755 to 1823). This particular branch of the Rolston [Ralston]family moved to Wood County, Virginia(now WV,)in the early 1800's to an area known as Bull Creek. The children of William and Mary lived in and around the Wood and Pleasants Counties of West Virginia for nearly the past 200 years. Some early family members ventured into Ohio and Nebraska. Most of the Rolston's of these earlier times were farmers, but other professions were not uncommon. Several went into the oil business. A few were drawn to California with Gold Fever. |
