* Rawlings to Rollins*

Updated January 10, 2008

This Home Page will attempt to illustrate the transition of the present spelling of this branch of the family name "Rollins" from the original Aaron Rawlings family of Maryland in 1667 through the Joseph Proctor Rollins generation on through to the year 2000.

Joseph was born in 1855 as a Rawlings and died in 1949 as a Rollins. Joseph's Mother, Keturah Francis Knott/Rawlings, started using the Rollins spelling sometime after her husband, Stephen Wells Rawlings, died. The change took place in Scotland County, MO. between 1860 and 1888. John B. Rollins was one of Joseph and Mattie Walker/Rollins' six children. He was also my father.

The information displayed on this Home Page is assumed to be fact. I will, of course, entertain any challenge to these facts and will gladly edit anything if it proves to be inaccurate. I will also share the information I have with other researchers.
