1. Michael¹ Swarts¹ was born August 21, 1783 in ,,MD, and died January 18, 1855 in West Salem TWP,Mercer,Pennslyvania. He married Catherine Bowers¹ Abt. 1803.

[1] Michael Swarts's birthdate comes from his tombstone. We have not yet
discovered his birth or baptism record in MD records. It could be that
he was actually born in PA because the boundary between the two states
was in doubt for many years -- until the Mason-Dixon line finally put the
dispute to rest. Records of both states should be checked. Michael left
a very clear will [Mercer Co PA Will Books, Vol. 4, p. 82] which names
his beloved wife Catherine and their 10 children (see below). He leaves
all his land estate of 50 acres in West Salem Twp, Mercer Co, to son
David in exchange for his caring for Michael and Catherine for the
remainder of their lives.

[2] Michael's ONLY wife was Catherine BOWERS. She died 7 Nov 1864 in
Fulton Co. OH and is buried in Keen Cemetery, Swan Creek Twp. At the
time of her death, she was living with her son David who owned property
in Fulton Co. Census records give conflicting birth places for Catherine
-- PA and MD. Do you have definite information about her birth in MA?

[3] Michael and Catherine raised a family of 10 children:
(1) Elizabeth "Betsey" , b. 11 Aug 1804 [her tombstone indicates that
she may have been born in 1803]. She married Andrew Frankforter.

(4) Sarah, b. 7 Oct 1813, d. 17 Dec 1887, m. Levi Burns
(5) Catherine, b. 2 Oct 1814, d. 13 Aug 1893, m. Christopher Fortney
(6) Daniel, b. ca. 1815, d. after 1854, m(1) Dorothy Leanard; m(2) by
1850 Rachel ??
(7) Leone "Leo" "Leah", b. 13 Mar 1818, d. 31 May 1915, m(1) William
Loney/Long/Lowery; m(2) David Robison/Robinson.
(8) Anna Maria, b. ca. 1820-1821, d. after 1860, m. Edward Kirby/Curry
(9) Henry, b. ca. 1823
(10) David, b. ca. 1825-1826, d. 17 Feb 1892, m(1) Catharine ??; m(2)
