Jens came to Coon Prairie, Vernon Co., WI, when he arrived in the United States. The district was called "America's Gudbrandsdal" because many of the immigrants from the valley of that name in Norway settled here.In Trempealeau County, during the second half of the 1860s, Norwegians poured in so fast they constituted 40% of the population. In Pigeon Township, 1877, Norwegians won most of the elective offices, making a clean sweep in the next election.per notes in the family history compiled by Bea Larson, 1989. br
