My Uncles Albert Ronk and George Ronk had done research on our family and they left their material with me. Included were two old Bibles from their grandparents. Now with the advantages of the internet and many geneology programs available much more information is available. Our family is traced back to the Chateau Vibrac near Nimes in Southern France. The Castle, built between 1510 and 1520 AD, was a gift to Charles Pierre du Ranc. The castle was a reward for Charles' accompanying Christopher Columbus on his second journey to America. As Huguenots the family was driver out of France, setteling in Baveria and Germany.
Two sons of Hans Valetine Ranck came to America in 1728 and 1729. They settled near Lancaster, PA. From there some changed their name to Ronk, Rank, Ranc, and Runk. My branch left PA.and into VA., then headed west thru OH. IN. IL. Ohio, then California.
