I am presently researching the ancestors of Joseph Gardner Ross. He was born 4/3/1872 in Tennessee and died 5/14/1931, buried at Willow Oklahoma. His Father was William Ross of Tennessee (Married to Melinda Jane Thomas). His uncle and presumed to be his fathers brother was James Ross of Tennessee. James was married to Eliza Hanover Thomas, Melinda Janes sister.And there my verified souces stop. Family legend has it that there is a Cherokee tie, but most Ross families seem to have that and I have found no verifiable souce linking my family.
FTM does have a possible hit in James (Red Jim) Ross. The time frame is correct and Red Jim had sons named James & William.
I welcome inquiries and info. I do have the David Price Thomas Sr. (from Ireland) descendents in the Oklahoma area if needed and will input to FTM as soon as I get them entered.
