Descendants of Joseph Roswell

      15. Charles Gilbert3 Roswell (Charles Earl2, Joseph1) was born October 22, 1884 in Yale, Michigan, and died July 29, 1934 in Detriot, Wayne County, Michigan. He married (1) Elizabeth M. Czarnecke August 21, 1911 in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Alexander Czarnecke and Antonia Capashinski. He married (2) Lucille Kossuch 1929, daughter of Rudolph Kossuch and Amelia Stericher.

Notes for Charles Gilbert Roswell:
Oral History: Charles A. Roswell (son) says that Charles Gilbert graduated from Detroit University in 1906 and worked mostly as an accountant during his life. He met his first wife, Elizabeth, ice skating in Detroit. He married her on August 21, 1911, at her grandfather Czarneckes' house on 100 Beaufit Avenue (I believe this is in Detroit). Gilbert F. Roswell, his other son, recalls that they were married at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. According to his sons, Charles Gilbert owned a couple of apartment buildings and speculated in real estate, then lost everything in the Great Depression. The loss of his wealth, combined with the death of his first wife a few years earlier, was a tremendous blow to him. His sons believe his saddened emotional state of mind played a key role in his death.
