Descendants/ancestors of Francis Marion Ross in Alabama

I've been searching for the ancestors of Francis Marion Ross for about 4 years and have found very little information in that area. I have all his descendents. It seems I have come to a dead end in trying to locate his ancestors. According to the Alabama 1850 Census he was born in SC and his wife was born in NC.

Francis Marion Ross married Eleanor Frances Martin Feb. 10, 1842 in Dallas Co., AL. They had three children; Francis Marion, Jr., Elizabeth, and John William.

Francis Marion Ross joined the Confederate Army Sep. 24, 1861 in Montgomery, AL. He was assigned to the Jeff Davis Legion, Cav. Battalion. He died in Camp Clifford, VA on Jan. 17, 1862.

F.M. Ross, Sr. had a son, Francis Marion Ross, Jr. who also joined the Confederate Army on the same date.
