I am doing research on both sides of my family as well as my wife's. My relatives include the names ROSS, LOVE, GIBBS, MUNDELL, CARSON, KNOX, BECKER, and DILLABAUGH, SHAY(SCHAAY), WEMPLE, PROESCHOLDT, VAN SLYCK, ARENDSE, LOCKWOOD, AND VEEDER. John ROSS came to Philadelphia from Londonderry, Ireland in 1849 and settled in LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA in 1855. The DILLABAUGH name is derived from the DALLENBACH line that came to New York State from Switzerland in the Palatine migration in 1710. Much of their early history in North America, as well as that of the WEMPLE, VAN SLYCK, and VEEDER families was in the Mohawk River Valley around Schenectady, New York. The DILLABAUGH name is first found in LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA in the 1860 census.
My wife's family names include: PEARSON, JONES, LOCKRIDGE, STAFFORD, RECTOR, SEARCY, LAW, SPARROW, BANNON, McCASHLAND, and CAUDLE. The PEARSON family settled in HAMILTON COUNTY AND TIPTON COUNTY, INDIANA. The JONES family in BOONE COUNTY, INDIANA.
