This site traces my known relatives from current day to the 1750's. Although my greatest successes have not been through the Rosen branch I have been provided with several "clues" to the origin of the name. It has been suggested that the Rosens came from Poland. Two brothers, one settling in Pembroke the other much further west. It has also been suggested the surname is from Russia and/or Germany.
Whatever the truth I'm yet to discover it. In the mean time should anyone know of any other links to the name Rosen or any other surname in my tree, I would appreciate the information, no matter how small the comment please make the effort to email. Im fascinated with any aspect of Rosen heritage, including why "Rosen Green" is listed as a 1891 census area in Pembroke in 1891. Ok we had a huge number of Rosen's at the time but why name land after us, and does it still exist?

My grancha once suggested Elizabeth's maden name was Adams. The link is complete! Rosens on 1861 Census (171 KB) The Rosens in 5 Hill St, Newport in 1861. The whole family are accounted for, but why the line through William? Joseph and Elizabeth in 1901 (716 KB) The boilermaker is still hard at it in the turn of the century. The Rosens again, now on 1891 Census (170 KB) Son of William on 1861 census, this William's now with his wife (janet) and family in 1 James St The Evans Family (854 KB) Finally George Evans is traced to this 1891 census page living with fanily in adeline street. Interestingly 4 of his brothers and sisters all have a middle initial "J". Tyler Family, 1871 Census (167 KB) The Tyler family have been hard to trace. Daughter Janet marries into the Rosen family, but nothing can be found of parents Daniel and Harriet Resting Place of Frederick and Beatrice Rosen (60 KB) Newport cemetry.
