| I need information on my HIMMELMAN/ROSING ancestors. My great-great-great grandfather, Johan Justus Frederick Himmelman, was born in 1730 in Dransfeld, near Gottingen, Lower Saxony. Johan Justus studied surgery at the University of Gottingen. He then practiced and studied gynecology and obstetrics with Dr. Schlit in Frankfurt am Main. He later practiced in Hamburg, with the city physician, Dr. Gulig. My records from this point to present are good. An example of this is that my great-grandfather, August Gustaf Himmelman, changed his name to August George Rosing when he went to the United States of America in the late 1800's.. We know that Johan Justis Himmelman's father was a major in the Hannoverian Army in the Hannover area. We know nothing more and would appreciate any help you might have. |
