Welcome to the Rossberg family home page. The Rossberg family name goes back many generation to about the 1300's, and includes several countries - Germany, Finland, and Switzerland, to name a few. Some time before the turn of the century Karl Richard Rossberg immigrated to the United States from Scherau, Germany (renamed from Rossberg, Germany after WWII) where he was trained as a baker, and married a young woman by the name of Fanny Horbel while still on the boat in the mid Atlantic Ocean. Landing in New York Harbor, the newly weds made their way first to Indiana, and then Hackensack,Minnesota where they bought a cow dairy and settled down. Twelve children were born of that union, and they currently live in every part of the country. Other Rossbergs imigrated to America as well and as of now there are over 200 Rossbergs list in the USA telephone directory. One daughter of Karl Rossberg , Martha Wilhelmina, married Merle Sawyer and currently lives in Ohio. Another son, Alvin Rossberg, lives in Minnesota where he has worked in a auto plant his whole life. Many other Rossbergs have no idea they are related. It is the hope of Rossberg family that we will be able to piece together as much of the family history as possible so that we can all be united once again and rediscover our roots across the big pond. A Rossberg family reunion occurs every year at the cabin in Minnesota in August. If you have information about either the Rossberg or Sawyer family and feel like sharing, please feel free to email us and we will try to return the courtesy. |
