I am researching the family of Samuel and Matilda Cowherd Carter. The Carter Family first appeared in the 1850 Census for Green County Kentucky. The Reverend Samuel Carter (1825-Unknown) was the founder and pastor for twenty years of the Jacob Grove Baptist Church in Summersville, Kentucky.
