This family project has been underway during the past half-century. As a young 25 year old, I traveled extensively and visited libraries from Boston, MA to Washington, D.C. to Richmond, VA to Atlanta,GA to several Alabama and Tennessee libraries.... and on to Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. After having proven an olden homeplace at Llandillio-Crossenny, MONMOUTHSHIRE, WALES as Roger Rosser's homeplace, and the small village of Staylyte in MERIONITH, WALES for the home of David Pugh, I spent many years embelishing my findings with references to various family notes and happenings, i.e., "the return of Lewis Pugh of Virginia to Merioneth, Wales to claim his share of his father, David's will, and his death there before returning to his family in Virginia. And another wonderful discovery was that the family name. Rosser, was actually created as a German name meaning a Horser, i.e., Ross meant Horse and a Rosser meant "one who had to do with horses", i.e., "a knight was call a Rosser and ros was the German name for horse. So, how was Ross and Rosser transplanted to Wales? When the German Saxons defeated the last of the Britons who lived in the area now known as Wales (formerly "Britonia". The German victors called the Britons, "Valsche", meaning foreigner in German.WELL! "the Britons weren't the foreigners. The German conquers were the foreigners (which speaks volumes about the German intellect. In those times, when the victors won their battles, they did not packup and return to their home country. They settled down and took the land as spoils, etc..... and the name "Briton" had to go, so "Valsche" was gradually Anglicised to "Wales".
