- Gibson Colburn Rote (59 KB)
Born August 17, 1870
Died October 11, 1934
Buried in Lewisburg Cemetery.
Gibson owned a farm, just past the Rock Oak restaurant on the left, on Route 45, east of Hartleton. He and his wife Mary set up a tent at what was called "Oak Park" and served meals. Mary was well known for her cooking. It is quite possible that Rock Oak restaurant is the original location of Oak Park as there is, or was, a grove of oak trees between the restaurant and the farm.
Gibson and his son Stewart helped start Pennsylvania House. There is a picture of both of them in what appears to be a barn, along with several other men. They are all standing beside rocking chairs.
