Shrimp Boat Blessing of August 10, 1932. The priest stands on the bayou side and blesses boats. In the Shrimp Boat Blessing of April, 2001, the priest rides in the lead boat and blesses the boats along the way to Lake Boudreaux, where the parade of boat ends. He prays to have a successful shrimp season. Many of the people make their living by trawling.
