From Histories & Genealogies of Old Granville Co NC 1746-1800 by Thomas McAdory Owen 1993 Southern Historical Press p 136, "March 8, 1754, John Debord fined 50s/ proc for neglecting to execute a Summons on Robt. Jones and that he be committed until fine is paid". Next entry on June 5 1754 simply says "Fine remitted"; this entry may refer to John Debord.

Note by HLD: David Debord and John Debord are probably the same person as this transaction is almost certainly the same transaction as the 125 acres sold by John Debord to Herbert Hight on 15 Aug 1774 in Warren Co (Warren Co DB 5 p 112).

Bute Co land entries, p 103, item 240 W Issued 6 Nov 1778. Roger Jones enters 700 A on waters of Linches Creek beg. at a corner in Harbert Hights line ...Col. Hawkins line & adj. lines of Thos. Cook, Augustin Willis, his own, and Jno. Hight as formerly surveyed for Geo. Deboard, 7 July 1778, signed Roger Jones. Note: John Debord had sold land in 1774 to Herbert Hight.

NOTE: Franklin County was formed on Jan 29, 1779 from Bute Co. Warren County was formed from Bute Co., on 14 Apr 1779. The above deeds in Warren Co before 1779 must have been in the portion of Bute Co that later became Warren Co.

#103, p 103: John Crabb of Franklin to Harbird Hite of same, ? 20, 1780 for 500 pds, a tract of 100 acres on the bank of Linches Creek adjoining Spencer Pendergrass and William Huckaby's spring branch, it being part of a tract of land taken up by John Debord. Wit John Hite and Nathaniel Jarratt.

Halifax District NC Superior Court of Law & Equity 1785-1805, p 68. Richard Hight had purchased land then in Bute Co from John Deboard for 42 pds 10 shillings etc. Looks like some kind of land dispute.

Franklin County June 1788 ?Court p 782 "Ordered that Joh Deboard be exempt from paying a poll tax in future". Note: John Debord would have been 58 years old.
