My dad was an auto mechanic and loved it. He always had a car in his garage to work on. I, Linda, helped him work on cars for many of my youthful years. He would get mad and curse alot but he ussually found the problem with the cars. He loved family get-togethers, especially Easter and Christmas. Dad was an alcoholic, but he never abused anyone when he was drinking. He always had food, clothing and home for his seven children and his wife. He didn't get too involved with the children's personal likes. He never went to schools to see how we were doing, that was always Mothers' job. Mom had to do most of the raising of the children. Dad always thought, "If you didn't need a certain thing to live, you didn't need it at all." This was where Mom had to step in. The children were very active in school and church which meant they needed certain items to participate. Dad did not think these things were necessary so Mom had to find a way to get these things without Dad knowing. She would save some money out of groceries and the kids would help by babysitting or yard work. Dad was a good man and we all loved him and miss him very much. Two years before Dad died, he had a massive stroke which made him like a two year old. He could not feed or dress himself or even talk. He only knew our Mother by sight. He did not know any of his children or grandchildren. Mom took care of him at home for those last two years. She had a very hard time with him, but she never gave him up. We would visit, but it really hurt when he didn't know you at all. He cried alot. To the children, Dad died two years before his death.
