This project is in memory of William Thomas Rowe, better known as "Bill". He was my Father. He lived the majority of his life within 20 miles of the Cumberland River of Kentucky and Tennessee. He was born in Clay County, Tennessee. The family moved to Cumberland County, Kentucky when he was very young. Except for 2 short trips to Ventura County, California, he remained on the farm in Cumberland County, Ky. the remainder of his life. This saga goes back to John Edward Roe, who is buried at Howards Bottom Cemetery overlooking the Cumberland River. This was his Great Grandfather, and is as far back as I can trace the family at this time. His Grandfather, Thomas Albert (Roe) Rowe served in the 5th Ky.Vol Calvery (Union) during the Civil War and served three years. Discharged at the end of the war, he returned to Cumberland County, Kentucky where he married Francis Hill. After her death, he married Mary Ann Watson in Clay County, Tennessee. After her death, he returned to Cumberland County, Kentucky and married Kate Hoots. He died at Salem Bottom, Cumberland County, Kentucky in 1924. His father, John Albert, lived his entire life in Clay County, Tennessee, where my father was born, and Cumberland County, Kentucky with the exception of one short trip to Ventura County, California during the late 1920's. I am looking for info as to the past of John Edward Roe at the present. Any info would be very much appreciated.
