| My cousin David and I are researching our ancestor, WILLIAM PARKER COX who was born 14 February 1820 in Randolph County, North Carolina.He married ELLEN JESSUP about 1840.Ellen was born in Indiana.W.P. Cox and the Jessup'smigrated to Springfield, Greene County, Missouri about 1839-1840 where W.P. Cox was in the tanning business with ELI JESSUP, born in North Carolina, who was thebrother of Ellen Jessup.Eli and Ellen Jessup were the children of THOMAS and MARY JESSUP born in North Carolina, migrated to Hendricks County, Indiana and then to Springfield, Greene County, Missouri about 1839-1840.Eli Jessup died in 1848 and William Parker Cox was the Administrator of his estate.Ellen also died an untimely death sometime after the birth of her youngest son who was born in 1847.Their father, Thomas, also died about this time as according to the Probate Records of Greene County, Missouri, the widows of Thomas and Eli both filed for their Widows Dower at the same time.W.P. Cox and Ellen Jessup had four children, Marion Hamilton, Sarah Ann (Letha), Martha Jane and William Manley. We would appreciate information on the parents and siblings of W.P. Cox andhis daughter, SARAANN (LETHA) COX born 19 June 1842, Greene County, Missouri, died 2 July 1915.William Parker Cox remarried on 14 September 1853 to ELIZABETHCAROLINE HORN the daughter of THOMAS HORN and ELIZABETH KNOX.Thomas Horn and his family were one of the early settlers of Greene County, Missouri.There were eight children from this union, Susan E., Thomas Ezra, James Wesley, Mary Ann, John H., Charles P., Emma Adaline and George Montgomery Cox.All of the children were born in Finley Township, Christian County, Missouri near Ozark, Missouri where William Parker Cox moved him family in 1854.William and Elizabeth lived in Finley Township until they passed away.They are both buried in Weaver Cemetery outside of Ozark, Missouri.William Parker Cox also had three bothers, two of them lived in Greene County, or Christian County,Missouri.They were JOHNBRANTLEY, BASIL MANLEY and WESLEY LANE COX.It is believed that Wesley Lane Cox stayed in Indiana and worked the land on the property the bothers purchased in 1837 in what is now Hamilton County, Indiana.Any information on this family will be greatly appreciated.
