Franya Rubendall in Norristown, PA, and I have been working on the Rubendall family tree together for the last 22 months. Franya has been collecting family history for about the last ten years, and I am in the process of adding everything to Family Tree Maker. We have also received assistance from Alan Rubendall of Malibu, CA and Wilson DeCamp of Vienna, VA. We estimate we are about 80% complete with the actual names, dating back to Jacob arriving in Philadelphia about June, 1773. On June 21, 1773, Jacob was indentured to a Doctor John Kearsley of Philadelphia for a period of 2 years, 9 months. Sometime after his indenture, he arrived in Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Have been unable to find a ship's passenger list for the Pennsylvania Packet arriving April 30, 1773, the Catharine arriving April 30, 1773, the Dolphin arriving May 31, 1773, or the Carolina arriving June 4, 1773. The Dolphin and the Carolina are the most likely ships to have brought Jacob to Philadelphia. We have PA tax records showing Jacob and his wife's existence in Northumberland in 1785 and 1788. Jacob and wife died intestate the winter of 1804-1805 (March 1805?), leaving 8 children. So far we know nothing of his wife. Custody of the children was given to Rosina, oldest daughter and married to Joseph Graham. Other children were Caroline, Elizabeth, Merich (Mesich?), Abraham, Isaac, Peter, and John. Abraham stayed in Northumberland County, Merich is shown in a 1840 Ohio census, and Peter moved to Stephenson County, Illinois, about 1846. Another son, Jacob preceded Jacob and his wife in death. Isaac and John are also believed to have died at an early age. We have no further information on any of the daughters. Spellings that have appeared in various documents and censuses: Ruppenthal, Rupenthal, Rubenthal, Rubenthol, Rubintol, Rubentong, Ruppentall, Reubendale, Reubendall, and most commonly, Rubendall. Both Franya and I will be grateful for any help provided. We are also willing to share the information we have. Our index is now over 1800 names. The Internetree below can take up to 20 minutes to download, so please be patient. We know the tree is incomplete and are still making additions and corrections, and if you see an error, please send corrections to me via snail mail or e-mail at the addresses on the left.
