She married Nicholas Cruger November 15, 1826 in Trinity Parish, New York, NY, son of John Cruger. He was born July 13, 1801, and died June 30, 1868.

Notes for Nicholas Cruger:
Nicholas Cruger was appointed to the U S Military Academy at West Point and commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, July 1, 1820. He is said to have first served in the Iowa region, resigning his commission Oct 31, 1827 with the rank of Captain. He soon took up residence near Crugers, in Cortlandt, New York, where he was a member of the Westchester County Board of Supervisors, 1842-43 and a Warden of St. Peter's Church, Peekskill. His residence was at Oscawanna (the name now given to an island at Crugers, New York). He estimated his real estate at $40,000. He was elected in Nov 1837 to the New York Assembly. Nicholas and his family were instrumental in building and outfitting the Church of Divine Love, Montrose, New York. Several bronze plaques commemorate the family's interest. Both Nicholas and his wife are buried in the churchyard there.

Heyliger, Hester married Nicholas Gouverneur, Eliza married James Monroe (later 5th President of the United States), and John, the only son, married Catherine Seaman.
