In 1928 Mary Thomas Seaman published a family history with as many descendants as she could locate [over 4,600]. Her book "The Seaman Family in America as Descended from Captain John Seaman of Hempstead, Long Island" had limited circulation and has been out of print for a long time. I have typed it in Family Tree Maker using the National Genealogical Society format since it creates a similar representation of how the book actually appeared. Now, however, us moderns will have the benefit of electronic manipulation of the data. There are obvious errors and typos but I am reproducing them as is so that Seaman researchers have an accurate representation of her work. She had many sources, mostly Quaker records and the earlier work of Arden Seaman [1866] and Mary Bunker Thomas "Long Island Genealogies" [1895]. Unfortunately, Mary Thomas Seaman did NOT cite her sources for various family members. Will you please scour your data and let me know what supporting evidence [or disconfirmation] you have for this genealogy? If there is NO source cited then the data was collected by Mary Thomas Seaman [MTS]. I have added citations from William Wade Hinshaw "Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy" [Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc.:1977]. Other additons will ALL be cited. Check this site often. The numbers on certain people will change as more information is added so please cite any persons by birth/death date, marriage to, or other unique data. Updated 6/27/2000.
