Researching the names:

ATWOOD, BALLEW, BLACKMON, BOLTON, BRAWLEY, BRUTON, BRYAN, CHORICE, GOODMAN, HUDGINS, MANSKER, RUBENKOENIG, RUBENKONIG, RUHRWEIM AND SCHLITTLER. Areas these names occur have been N.C., S.C., Tn, Ky, Mo, Ga, La, Ar and Tx. Most of them have ended up in Tx. Rubenkoenig/Rubenkonig from Germany, Ruhrweim from Prussia and Schlittler from Switzerland.

I have a significant amount of information on some names and very little on others. Some of the information is not fully documented and I cannot vouch for total accuracy. If anyone has documentation I am willing to correct errors.

I would like to thank the "cousins" out there for kindly sharing your information. Without you I would still be digging because I had very little information when I started.

Family Photos

  • Oscar Goodman (65 KB)
J Oscar Goodman looks to be in his 20's, the picture was probably taken in Arkansas. He died in 1925 and would have been about 35 years old.
  • George Washington Blackmon (13 KB)
G.W. was my 2g grandfather. He was born about 1835 in Ga and died about 1870 in Ar. I can place him in Arkansas as early as 1859 when he made a land purchase in Columbia County. He married Sarah Brawley 27 Octobe 1874. There were two children Lenora Elizabeth born 28 April 1866 and William Hugh born 15 February 1868.

Related Files

  • Chorice and Goodman ancestors (2 KB)
I have no information on the lineage of Louise Elizabeth Mansker who married Jacob Chorice. Some of the Chorice and Goodman families lived in Arkansas and there were several Mansker families in the same area. I do believe Louise died in or due to childbirth and is probably buried in Texas. I do not know what became of Jacob.
  • Blackmon ancestry (4 KB)
The parents of G.W. Blackmon are thought to be James and Elizabeth, both from S.C., G.W. was born in Ga as was his sibling. Little has been found about them prior to 1859 and the name of his sibling is not known.
