In search of my long lost immigrant ancestor (aren't we all)? I am currently stuck in Hardy County, Virginia, circa 1810. I would appreciate any assistance in getting beyond this genealogical road block. Currently, I am most interested in locating the parents of a George Ruble (b. Abt 1810, VA). He married a woman named Mary ? (b. Abt 1817) and had two children I know of, Catherine (b. Abt 1842) and Lucas (b. Abt 1848, d. Abt 1917). This information was obtained from the 1860 VA Census, Hardy County, page 180. George is my 3rd great grandfather.I am also researching the following surnames: Compton, Deevers, Del Evans, Engle, Enlow (Enloe, Enloes), Gougler (Gauckler, Gaugler, Gaukel) , McCrady (McCready), Pickens, and Spriggle. Anyone with info, please email me!And in honor of all the great email I have been getting from my "Gougler cousins", the attached report is for you! And if any of you know the current whereabouts of Joh. Killian Gaukler's German violin named in his will in 1765, fess up! I believe he left this specifically to me, his 6th great grandaughter...but you know the handwriting is awfully hard to read. I was going to rename this site to the "In Search of Killian's Violin", but I am still holding my breath that a few long lost Ruble relatives may respond yet. (And IF you do, maybe you will get a report page too!)
