The majority of the research for this publication was undertaken by Robert Sale Rudy and Lois May Arthur Rudy. Robert S. Rudy was one of the founders of the German-American society, "Palatines to America." Documents show that among direct ancestors there were five veterans of the French and Indian War and ten veterans of the Revolutionary War. The latter are 1Lt. Andrew Rudy, Capt. John Sale, Capt. Job Case, Lt. Silas Holcomb, 1'st Lt. Samuel Bancroft, Private Ebenezer Buckingham, public servant Frederick Bonner, Jeremiah Finch, Gerard Pratt and John Egbert. Lester Case and Michael Dulty were veterans of the War of 1812. Two veterans of the Civil War, Alfred Phillips who was present both at Antietam and Chicamauga and Frederk Bonner Sale. Manilus Stone Rudy was a Gold Rusher of 1849.
The Cases were pioneers of Connecticut and Ohio. The Sales were pioneers of Virginia and Ohio and frontier ministers. The Priest and one Pratt were a Mayflower pilgrim and Plymouth pioneers respectively. Hans Rudi of Ormalingen was sire of the Pennsylvania German Rudi/Rudy groups. The Arthur's brought a Scottish connection to the family. The Phillips left us Civil War stories in the form of a diary.
The Sale line's descendency from MagnaCarta Barons and Plantagenet royalty back through Cases, Holcomb, Posts, Bruens and Holfords is documented. Likewise, Sale descendency from the Spencer ancestor of Princess Diana, back through seven generations of Cases in Ohio and Connecticut to England is well traced. Many photos, biographies, ancestral charts and an index are included.
