All my life I listened to the stories my Mother told about our ancestors. Who they were, when and where they came from, their prominence in the early settlement of Central Missouri, Kentucky, and Virginia. I recall being told that we came about the time of the Mayflower, that we fought in the Revolutionary War, that we were of French and English descent, and that we descended from French royalty. How wonderful it has been to discover that the oral history Mother had heard from her parents and grandparents had so many facts behind it.
The primary lines I am tracing include the Field and Harrison families that initially settled in Virginia; the Field's about 1637 around Jamestown (later in Culpeper Co.)and the Harrison's about 125 years later in Botetourt County. Henrie Field (1611-1674) and John Harrison (1740-1808) were the immigrants.
