I was first interested in my family heritage when I was taking a history course at University of San Diego. It was something one of my professors had said: "In order to know where you are going, you need to know where you have been." She was talking about family traditions, culture, and heritage. I thought about what she had said and realized that I didn't know much about my family.

When my husband and I got married and had children, the subject of "heritage" came up once more. Since both of his parents had passed away when he was young, he didn't know much about his family. We are sensitive to the issue of family traditions and heritage and we wanted to make sure our children knew where they came from and how we came to be where we are today. We realized that together we make an incredibly rich and diverse heritage that we leave to our children. No history course could teach them more than what they can learn from their own family history.

So, here we are at the beginning. It begins with our children and the story forms and grows as we pass each generation. We encourage you to embark on the journey with us as we prepare the story of our heritage for our children.

Please review the information we have collected. Hopefully it will be as enlightening to you as it has been to us. And hopefully you have your own stories, photos, and/or documents you can add to the story. Please contact me if you have anything to add or if you see something that needs changing.
