Our earliest records for the Seemann family come from the church at Brodersby in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and date back to 1715. Members of the Seemann family emigrated to the U.S. in the 1850's, primarily to Dallas and Clinton counties in Iowa. We also have records of the Petersen family from the same area dating to about 1800. Our information on the Mohr family dates back to about 1800 in Welchweyler, Bavaria. Several brothers also emigrated to the U.S. around 1850, settling in various areas. George Henry Mohr settled in Ohio where he established the West Unity Foundry. His wife, Catherine Anne Bohner, was born in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Through the years her family name changed from Bohner to Bahner, and originally was Bahn. Our earliest location for them is Reichenbach bei Hessisch Lichtenau, about 40 km Southwest of Kassel, Germany, in 1754. Johann Nicholas Bahner served in the Fourth Brigade, Second Hessian Division under Schmidt in the Revolutionary War. After the war, he settled in Pennsylvania.
I am also looking for information on the family of W. T. and Mary Jane Parkes from around Union and Dossville, Mississippi in the mid 1800's. One family member whose name we think is Laura Joiner is believed to be Native American, possibly Cherokee. Many members of the Parkes, later changed to Parks, family settled in central Texas.
Another branch of the family I would like to research are the Molt's or Moldt's from Phillipsthal, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Peter Petersen Molt was born on the island of Alsen, Denmark, in December, 1715. One son was reportedly a secretary in the cabinet of the King of Sweden, possibly in the late 1700's. He apparently died in Sweden, and was said to have left his fortune to a Swedish general as he had no heirs.
Our family tree currently includes almost 1,800 names, and stretches from coast to coast. We are always looking for more information, and I would be happy to share with other researchers.
