Notes for BENONI RUST: It is believed by me after much research that Benjamin and Benoni are one and the same persons. In proof of this statement I provide the following: 1) The New England Historical & Genealogical Register Vol. CXXI - Jan. 1967 " The Hobart Journal" Pg. 18 - 05 April 1646 - Ben-oni Rust bapt. Pg. 22 - 23 October 1649 - Ben=oni Rust dyed (The above as copied from the original Hobart Journal) 2) Record of the Rust Family, Embracing the descendants of Henry Rust who came from England and settled in Hingham, Massachusetts 1634 - 1635. Pg. 13 - Benjamin,* bap. 05 Apr., 1646 (As copied from Hubbard's records of Hingham, Massachusetts) This shows that Benjamin and Ben-oni were bapt. on the same date. Which is possible, but would mean that both persons had to have been born before 05 Apr.1646. Given the structure of the family unit and the births of the other children this is almost impossible. Unless you support the idea of twins. In either case why would only one child be listed in Hobart's Journal as being bapt. on that day, if both children are shown in the above sources as being bapt. on the 05 Apr 1646. |
