Larry & Donna Russell Family History

We are looking for the names Barber, Barbour, Parisher, John, Powell. The Barbour and Barber are the same family as the name was changed when they came to America from Scotland. At that time most people spelled names as they sounded when they did not know the correct spelling. This is the way many other names changed after people came to America.My mother has a manuscript type book that traces the Barber (Barbour) family all the way back to Edinburgh, Scotland in 1775. The beginning of one line of our family was William James Barber, III. He came to America when he was just a child.I found things like the Civil War and other things that I learned about in school and that did not interest me much at that time, have taken on a new meaning since I have letters and stories from ancestors about these events.
