4. JOHN² HENRY (WILLIAM¹) was born April 15, 1757 in Anson Co., NC, and died December 29, 1833 in Jonathan's Creek, NC. He married NANCY NEWMAN Abt 1782.

Notes
While residing in York District, SC, John Henry enlisted in 1779 and served three months as Private under Lt. Kirkendal in Colonel Neel's SC Regiment; was in an engagement with the Creek Indians. He enlisted again in June 1780 and served as a private in Captain John Moffatt's Company, Colonel Bratton's regiment; was taken prisoner by the Tories, put in irons and taken to Ninety-Six; then to Charleston, where he was held prisoner until January 15, 1781 when he was exchanged. He was elected Captain in February 1781 and served in Colonels William Bratton's and Love's regiments; was in pursuit of the Tories and continued in the service until peace was made. Pension was allowed on his application executed Jan. 2, 1833.
