* The Henrys of Mount Vernon*

Updated November 6, 2000

The information I have accumulated so far is mostly from a distant relative's book "The Henrys of Mount Vernon and Their Kith and Kin" by Dibrell Ingram;
and for the current information, asking relatives what they can add. I also
have been very fortunate to locate a fellow FTM researcher working on the
same line which filled in a lot of blanks. I have just begun to search the
internet and other sources.

Our family is of Irish descent; our history so far beginning with William Henry,
Esq.; b.1715-d.1819. Born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, he came to
Augusta County, Virginia in 1733. He married Isabella McCown(McKeon,
McKeown), daughter of Francis and Margaret McCown(McKeon,McKeown).
They had 7 sons and 3 daughters. William Henry's home place, where he
lived for about 65 years, was known as 'Henry's Knob' near York, SC. He
is buried near there at Bethany Presbyterian Church.

Basically the only surname I am interested in at this time is HENRY but as
more of the blanks are filled in along the Henry line I will probably
'branch out' to include other relatives on our family tree.

If there is anyone else already working on this line I would love to get
together and compare notes!
