I am a Montgomery-Russell or so I thought. I recently found that the Montgomery side is really the Bussell side, because my Grandpa Max Montgomery changed his last name as a child from Bussell to his step-father's last name, Montgomery.

On the Russell side we have Woodward's, Burrous' and Holland's.

On the Montgomery/Bussell side we have Bennett's, Tatom's and Ramsdell's.

This is really a work in progress. I will be adding more photos, adding more sources and cleaning up the existing sources now that I see what they look like when they are exported to the Internet. Please bear with me.

If you have corrections, photos or information for me feel free to email me at indigoraven1970 at yahoo dot com.

New photos from the Burrous/Russell side of the family were just added. My Aunt Linda got them from her Uncle Cecil (my great uncle) and sent them to me.

Family Photos

  • Letha Bennett & Max Montgomery (Bussell) (75 KB)
Letha Bennett & Max Montgomery (Bussell) Not sure when this was taken or if it was an engagement photo or not.
  • The Ramsdell Clan (617 KB)
You can see Rev. Thomas Manly Ramsdell, Jr in the middle of the photo and I believe the woman to his left is Laurilla Jane (Caldwell) Ramsdell. Aileen was noted on the photo by someone. She is my Great grandmother Aileen Mary (Tatom) Bennett. I think the woman standing up next to her may be Francis Carrie (Ramsdell) Tatom, but I have no reason to think that other than proximity. Can anyone help fill in names?
  • Stanley & Aileen Bennett with Anna Anderson (586 KB)
The title above lists what I know for sure about this photo. I suspect that Anna Anderson is Anna May Ramsdell Anderson. It seems likely since Aileen Mary Bennett showed on the 1910 Census as living with Anna and Sievert Anderson.
  • The Burrous Family on Wagon Train West (139 KB)
Grandpa Ben was 19 years old in this picture and the note on the back was: "The Burrous Family on trip to Colorado in covered wagons. Before I knew them. Lillie Year 1910." See notes on Grandpa Joel Benjamin Burrous for more information about this trip.
  • Formal Burrous Family Photo (47 KB)
Grandpa Ben is listed as being in the center of the top row. The year the photo was taken is listed as 1907. Note the background image that appears to be a World's Fair City backdrop. This photo was heavily touched up by a company in Springfield, MO in 2000 (it looks like).
