1. DAVID¹ ARMSTRONG was born Abt. 1765 in County Antrim, Ireland, and died Abt. 1857 in Broughshane, Ireland. He married JENNIE ARMSTRONG Abt. 1804 in County Antrim, Ireland. She was born Abt. 1784, and died 1880 in Clough, Ireland.

Notes for DAVID ARMSTRONG:
David Armstrong was born probably in 1765 in County Antrim, Ireland. That was a long time ago but a grand-daughter has a very clear recollection of him. He and Jennie Armstrong were married when he was about 40 years old. Even though they had the same last name they were not related or closely related at least. They grew up on adjoining or closely located farms in County Antrim. They made their home near Ballymena on a farm they owned after they were married. Their ancestors had come from England or more probably Scotland.

They lived a life of aristocratic country people. Each of them was a good manager, intelligent, and in every way successful. He was over six feet tall, large frame and fair complexion.

They had five children named in order of their birth, Charles, Margaret, James, David (not sure of that name) who died in his teens, and Nancy who also died in her teens.

They owned what was then regarded as a large amount of property and each of their children was given valuable property about the time of their marriage. They gave James the farm on which he made his home at the time of his marriage, five or six miles north from Ballymena and about the same time they also gave James a sheep farm which was about a mile from his home. Some years later they gave him more property. The sheep farm was rocky hills covered with heather and on it James kept three hundred sheep and hundreds of geese.

He died at the age of 92, probably in 1857, while they were living with their son James in Ballymena.

Notes for JENNIE ARMSTRONG:
Jennie was about five feet two inches tall, weighed about 100 lbs, very slender even in old age, with a fair complexion, high spirits and very energetic. At the age of 84 years she still running foot races with her grand daughters, who sailed for Ireland in 1868.
