| Thomas RUSSELL (ca. 1763- ) of Allegany County, Maryland and his wife Phebe (ca. 1765- ) had at least eight children. One of these was a son named Ruel RUSSELL (ca. 1786-ca. 1852). Ruel married Priscilla BOYD (ca. 1787 in Virginia-ca. 1852) on 11 August 1808 in Allegany County, Maryland. Ruel and Priscilla had at least eleven children. Ruel moved his family to Mason County, Virginia (now Jackson County, West Virginia) sometime between 1811 and 1818. The family also lived briefly in Ohio, probably in the Knox County area, and then returned to Virginia. One of Ruel and Priscilla's children was John Boyd RUSSELL who was born 16 September 1811 in Allegany County, Maryland and who died 15 September 1889 in Ray County, Missouri. On 6 September 1832, John married Sarah McKOWN in Virginia. They had nine children. John and Sarah moved to Ray County, Missouri in 1856 and are both buried there.
