Delia
(Smith) Williamson
By request of
the children, I will now try to write the obituary of their mother, Sister
Delia (Smith) Williamson, who was born January 26, 1882, and departed this life
March 11, 1952, making her stay on earth 70 years, one month and 16 days old at
death.
She was married
to John Williamson, who preceded her in death.
To this union were born two sons and one daughter, Hollis, Hilton and
Maxie Williamson. Besides the children
she leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn her passing,. Sister Delia professed a hope in Christ and
was baptized into the fellowship of the Bent Branch Church in the year of 1926.

William
Riley (Bill) Muncy
It is with much
sadness that I attempt to write the obituary of a dear brother, William Riley
Muncy. He was born May 15, 1865, and
deceased this life March 1, 1952, thus making his stay in this world 86 years,
9 months and 16 days.
He was the son
of Harrison and Elizabeth Muncy. He was
married to Cordelia Davis, who preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Malta Osborne, and one
grand-daughter, Billy Jane Osborne, and many friends and relatives to mourn his
loss.
Brother Muncy
confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized by Brother Jonah Bevins May 21,
1944, and placed his membership with the Pilgrims Home Church, where he
remained a faithful member as long as his health permitted him to fill his
seat.

Brother Roy
Pinson
The Son of John
B. Pinson and Martealie Pinson. He was
born March 17, 1896, and deceased February 29, 1952. His father preceded him in death. He leaves his mother and brothers, Rell, Van, Alton, Thomas,
Wilson, Miliam Pinson. Sisters: Mrs. Howard Moon and Mrs Harvey May and with
a host of friends and relation to mourn the loss.
He joined the
church and professed a hope in Christ April 24, 1932, and was baptized by the
hands of Elder Willis Blackburn and Elder James Jude.

Emma Lue
Stanley
Sister Emma Lue
Stanley was the daughter of Smith and Harriet Brown, born March 24, 1887,
deceased this life June 19, 1952.
She was united
in marriage to Marvin Stanley and to this union were born 11 children , four of
which preceded their mother in death.
She leaves her husband and seven children as follows; Tremble, Victor,
William, Rush and George Kelly Stanley, Mrs Minnie Crigger and Mrs Bessie
Gannon, also thirteen grandchildren, with a large number of friends and
relatives to mourn her loss, but we feel confident that our loss is her eternal
gain.
Sister Stanley
joined the Regular Baptist Church and placed her membership with the Dix Fork
Church August 4, 1929, and remained a true and faithful member until
death.

Marinda
Williams
With much
sadness of heart I will try in the humblest way I know how to write a short
sketch of the life of my beloved sister in the flesh and in the Lord---- Sister
Marinda Williams, a daughter of Lee and Nancy Maynard. She was married to Everette Williams in the
year of 1929 and to this union were born no children: her husband preceded her in death.
She leaves her
father, two sisters, Georgie Marcum and Mrs. Nellie Spillman, two brothers,
Burley and Rell Maynard, with a host of friends to mourn her loss. Marinda joined the Regular Baptist Church
when I was just a little girl and was baptized by the hands of Elders L. G.
Lowe and Ernie Runyon. I feel she lived
a devoted Christian life until the Death Angel came February 21, 1952.

Stratton
It is by
request of the family for me to write an obituary of the beloved Sidney
Stratton, a son of Crit and Malinda (Bevins) Stratton, born September 27, 1887,
departed this life October 4, 1950. He
was married to Gertrude Williamson in the year of 1910 and to this union were
born six children, two daughters and four sons, names as follows: Mrs Dow Deskins, Pikeville KY; Mrs Chester
Hicks, Kansas City MO; Chick, Dwight and Foster all of Williamson WV and
Sidney, Jr. of Washington D. C. Sidney
joined the Regular Baptist Church several years ago and was a faithful member
until his death.

Will Scott
By the help of
the Lord I will attempt to write the obituary of my grandfather, Will
Scott. He was the son of the late John
and Harriet (Farley) Scott, born April 24, 1871, and departed this life October
4, 1951. He was married to Arminda
Runyon, and to this union were born eight children, four of which with the
mother preceded him in death. The four
living are: Emma Stanley, Johnie Scott,
Octavia Conley and Bessie Thacker He
was second married to Esta Stanley and to this union was born one son, name Verlin
Scott.
Grandfather
joined the regular Baptist Church and was baptized the 2 Sunday in June, 1949,
by the hands of Elders H. C. Maynard and Willie Stanley and took fellowship
with the Narrows Branch Church. where he remained a faithful member until death.. Besides these children he leave two sisters,
29 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

James M.
Smith
With much
sadness and grief in my heart I will try to write the obituary of my father,
James M. Smith, born February 26, 1873, departed this life October 1, 1951.
He was married
to Buna Morris and to this union were born eleven children; three sons precede him in death, leaving
four sons and four daughters, along with mother to mourn his loss. Father joined the Regular Baptist Church in
August, 1948, and became a member of the Dix Fork Church, where his seat is now
vacant.

Thomas B.
Farley
By request of
the family it has become my sad duty to write the obituary of a loving brother
to-wit; Thomas B. Farley, son of John P
and Pricey (Bevins) Farley, born June 11, 1874, was united in marriage to Nancy
Oney July 13, 1889, and to this union were born 13 children of whom all are
living.
Brother Farley
joined the Regular Baptist Church in August 1949 and was baptized into the
Narrows Branch Church by the hands of Elders H. C. Maynard and Willie Stanley,
where he was a faithful member as long as he was able to go.

Sadie Jude
By request of
the family I will try to write a short obituary of Sister Sadie Jude, the
daughter of Jimmie and Patty Maynard, born June 16, 1913, departed this life
March 14, 1950. She was united in
marriage to Butler Jude on June 3, 1933.
To this union were born eleven children, Unell, Joe, Shadle, Mable,
Ruby, Henry, Loyd, Hazel, Doris, Buttler and Floyd. Four of these children preceded her in death, seven still living.
She joined the
Regular Baptist Church and was baptized by the hands of Elder Shadle Pauley,
the fourth Saturday in May, 1943, and placed her membership with the Sidney
Church and I can truly say her presence is missed.

James Allen
Taylor
By the help of
the I will write the obituary of Brother James Allen Taylor, who was born
October 25, 1865, deceased this life July 30, 1952.
He was united
in marriage to Vicey Lowe December 30, 1886, and to this union were born 7
children, names as follows: R. L.,
Floris, Sidney, Bradley, Ernest and Clyde Taylor, and Mrs Gladys Burnett. Brother Taylor leaves these children, a
large circle of friends and relatives and the membership of the Bent Branch
Church to mourn his loss.
He professed a
hope in Christ and was baptized into the membership of the Bent Branch Church
June 17, 1939.

Mounts
It is with much
sadness that I attempt to write a short obituary of Elder Matt Mounts. He was born August 4, 1878, deceased this
life December 27, 1951.
He was united
in marriage to Jerusha Runyon in the year of 1899, and to this union were born
twelve children, of whom six have preceded him in death. Those living are, viz: Amy, Hundly, Sam, Arisba, Ooten, Nancy
Runyon, Maudy McKee and Delahia Runyon.
He joined the
Rebecca Church of Regular Baptist in the year of 1906 and was baptized by the
hands of Elder Jake Hearld, and was ordained to the ministry in the year of
1922. Being crippled and in ill health,
he was always faithful to the cause of his Master.

George Evans
Brother George
Evans was born June 23, 1887, the son of Harvey and Melissa Evans. He died February 12, 1951. Brother George's death was a great shock to
the community because he Wass called sudden while at work on the tipple. It can be truly said of him that he died at
his post. He was united in marriage
1914 to Vicie Hensley, who preceded him in death. Brother George and sister Vicie both joined the "Old Regular
Baptist Church". He joined 1919,
the exact date that she joined is not known.
Sister Vicie was born 1897, died October 24, 1930. She lived a faithful Christian life until
death and was loved by all who knew her.
To this union were born six children, one dying in infancy, five living
daughters: Mrs. Elsie Brumfield, Mrs.
Hattie Brewster, Mrs. Rebecca Brumfield, Mrs. Mary Maynard, and one son, Asa
Evans, all of Debartolo, WV.
Brother George
was united in marriage the second time to Betty Farley, Dec. 26, 1932. Three children were born to this union, two
sons, Albert and Pat, and one daughter, Nelson Neil, all at home. Brother George was a deacon of Sardis
Church at the time of his death.

Everette
Meadows
It is by the
help of the Lord and with much sorrow that I will attempt to write this
obituary of my beloved Uncle, Everette Meadows, a son of James and Sarah
Meadows, born August 30, 1912 and departed this life August6, 1952.
He was married
in the year of 1949 to Neva Hall and to this union were born two children,
Ernest Lee and Ruth Ann.. Uncle
Everette confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized in the year of 1949, by
the hands of Elder Asa Evans and placed his membership with the Tabitha Church
of Regular Baptist and remained a faithful member until death.

Elizabeth
(Ray) Young
It is in much
sorrow and sadness of heart that I attempt to write the obituary of my dear
loving mother, Elizabeth (Ray) Young.
She was born March 16, 1880, at Varney, KY., the daughter of Thomas and
Nancy (Robinett) Ray. Mother departed
this life November 26, 1951.
She was married
to Harvey Young in the year of 1894, and to this union were born nine children,
of whom four preceded her in death. She
leaves the husband and five children, names as follows: Wealthy Case, Willie Young, Virgie Etta
Murphy, Mary Williamson and Cecil Young; one sister, Mary Ann Williamson, and
four brothers, Perry Ray, Mack Ray, W. B. Ray and Lacy Ray, with a host of
friends and relatives to mourn her loss.
mother joined
the Regular Baptist Church some 28 years ago and placed her membership with the
Pilgram's Home Church, where she remained faithful until death called her from
our home.

Ella Stanley
It is with uch
sadness and grief in my heart that I try in my sorrow to write a short obituary
of my loving mother, whom God called from our home very suddenly July 11,
1952, Ella (Fields) Stanley. She was the daughter of Tom and Spice
Fields, born September 12, 1901, and was united in marriage to Orville Stanley
in the year of 1921. To this union were
born nine children, three boys and six girls, names as follows: Dorothy Mae, Nannie, Lydia and Mary Lou,
George Thomas, Bertha Jane, Burgess, Bobby Jene. Luther James preceded her in death
Besides the
father and we children she leaves nine grandchildren, three brothers, one
sister, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her passing. Mother joined the Regular Baptist Church
August 6, 1944 and was baptized by the hands of Elders B. H. Bevins and Ester
Hopkins and took fellowship with the Salem Church, where she remained a
faithful member until death.

(Elswick) Smith
It is with a
sad heart that I try to write the obituary of my grandmother, Martha (Elswick)
Smith, the daughter of Robert (Bob) and Mariah Elswick, born June 16, 1865 and
deceased this life June 10, 1952.
Grandmother was
united in marriage to Calvin Stanley in the year of 1886, who preceded her in
death. to this union were born six
children, three of whom preceded her in death, In later years she was married
to Leander Smith, who also preceded her in death in the year of 1935: to them
was born one Daughter, Mrs. Bessie Young, who also preceded her in death.
She joined the
Regular Baptist Church around fifty-five years ago and was baptized by Elder
John Keesee, and placed her membership with the Apple Orchard Church, and then
later came to the Pilgrim's Home Church.

Brother Bill
Stanley was the son of John and Nancy Stanley.
Born Feb. 16, 1868; married to Mary Ellen (Bevins) Stanley April 5,
1888; joined the Church of Jesus Christ - called Salem of Regular Baptist June
13, 1940, and departed this life Nov. 28, 1950. He leaves three sons and one daughter, the footprints of a Faithful
and loving parent. The sons are Rell,
Landon and Brother Trimble. The
daughter is Sister Pearl Blackburn of Meta, KY.

Hensley
By request of
her children it becomes my lot to reflect the memory of Sister Flora
Hensley. Born Feb 22, 1882; married to
A. J. Hensley Oct 25, 1906; deceased this life Jan. 4, 1951. To this marriage union was born three boys
and two girls. Grayson and the two
girls, Greetus and Evelyn, live at Road Fork KY., Everett in Florida. Ernest preceded his mother in death.

Clyde Bevins
It is with deep
sorrow, and loneliness of heart that I attempt to write the obituary of my
beloved son, to-wit: Clyde Bevins, born
August 8, 1902; married to Zetta Morris May 31, 1927, and to this union were
born four children, two boys and two girls, names as follows: Calvin, Ruby, Lois, Kenneth Lee and Rowena.
Zetta Bevins
deceased this life August 17, 1938.
Clyde was later married to Golda Charles June 14, 1940 and to this union
was born one daughter, name Priscilla Sue Bevins.
My son and
brother confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized by the hands of his father
and Elder B. H,. Bevins, August 4, 1935.
He placed his membership with the Salem Church of Regular Baptist and
was ordained as deacon of that church April 4, 1936.

Damron
It is with much
sadness of heart that I write the obituary of my mother, Emma Zetta Damron, a
daughter of Billy and Polly Ann Maynard, born October 17, 1885, deceased this
life December 25, 1951.
She was united
in marriage to J. W. Damron and to this union were born seven children, names
as follows: Nancy Fields, West Union,
OH Wandalee Harrison, Williamson,
WV; Chester Damron, Winston-Salem, NC,
Anna Mae Fraley, Hatfield, KY; Laville Damron, and Shelby Damron, at home,
Rural Hall, NC. William S. Damron died
on the battlefield in Korea, May 21, 1951
She joined the
Regular Baptist Church about 29 years ago - baptized by the hands of Elder C.
Cole, and lived a faithful member until death.

Bevins
By request of
the family I will try to write a short obituary of their father, J. Mont
Bevins. He was the son of A. P. and
Vicy (Stacy) Bevins, born May 31, 1869, and departed this life January 14,
1952.
He was united
in marriage to Sally Williams, and to this union were born six children, two of
which with the mother preceded him in death.
Those left to mourn the loss of father are: Mrs. Gladys B. Blackburn, Mrs. Mattie M. Ratliff, Carroll and
Ramon Bevins.
Uncle Mont
joined the Regular Baptist Church December 26, 1951 and placed his membership
with the Bent Branch Church.
He was well
known throughout this country. Having
spent his life as a merchant gave him a wide acquaintance with many
people. He was a descendant of one of
Pike County's pioneer families.

Kenis Roscoe
Dorton
It is with much
sadness in my heart, and by the help of the Lord, that I try to write the
obituary of my dear father, by nature and brother in the Lord, Kenis Roscoe
Dorton, better known as K. R. Dorton.
He was the son of W. P. and Mary (Vanover) Dorton, born April 3, 1874,
departed this life November 15, 1951.
Father joined the Regular Baptist Church the fourth Saturday in August
1949, and was baptized by the hands of Elder Emmette Case and Rudolph Sesco,
and placed his membership with the Pilgrim's Home Church.
He was married
to Farrabelle Kelly, who preceded him in death November 8, 1945, and to this
union were born five children - all are living, namely: Kissiah May Ray, Pricey Clevenger, Mary
Hall, Williabell Brown and Lillie Chafins.
Besides us children he leaves 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren,
two brothers and three sisters, besides the entire membership of the Pilgrims
Home Church.

White
Father was born
April 6, 1866, deceased September 17, 1939, the son of Jim and Celia
White. He was first married to Minnie
Farley. To this union were born four
children, three of whom with the mother preceded him in death. One of the sons
lost his life in World War One.
Father was
later married to Angeline Evans in the year of 1895, and to this union were
born nine children. He joined the
Regular Baptist Church many years ago and served several years as a deacon of
the Elk Fork Church.

White
It is with a
sad feeling that I try to write the obituary of my mother, who passed away May
28, 1951. She was the daughter of Ira
L. and Elizabeth Evans, born January 7, 1875.
Mother was
first married to Joe Runyon. After his
death she married Comfort White, the son of Jim and Celia White. To the first union was born one child, who
died in infancy. To the second union
were born nine children, five sons and four daughters. Two of the sons preceded her in death, one
when small, the other was out at sea in World War II, which caused her much
grief. Mother joined the Regular
Baptist Church when very young and was a member of the Elk Fork Church since
1911.

Victoria Elswick
Since it has
fallen to my lot to try in the most humble way that I know how to try to write
into words, and describe the life of one of the most humble mothers that I have
ever had the experience of knowing, she was Sister Mercie Victoria (Ratliff)
Elswick, a daughter of William and Arminda Ratliff, born November 16, 1976, in
Pike County, KY, departed this life February 23, 1952.
She was united
in marriage to Charley Lilburn Elswick, November 19, 1897, and to this union
were born eleven children, of whom four, with the father, preceded her in
death. The seven left are: Mrs. Golda Young, Cincinnati, OH; Mrs. Haze
Blackburn, Meta, KY; Curtis Elswick, Meta, KY; Clyde Elswick,Zebulon, KY; Cyrus
Elswick, Cincinnati, OH; Marvin Elswick, Varney, KY, and Fred T. Elswick of
Ashland, KY. She also leaves one
brother, Elder G. C. Ratliff, of Island Creek, KY, and one sister, Mrs. Millie
Rowe, of Feds Creek, KY.
Aunt Vick,
joined the Regular Baptist Church many years ago, the date unknown to me, but
she was a member of the Bent Branch Church and come as a charter member to the
Pilgrims Home Church and there she was true and faithful.

Mary Pinson
She was the
daughter of John and Alaphare Young, born in the year 1866, was married to
James W. Pinson in the year of 1880, and to this union were born no children.
Aunt Mary
joined the Regular Baptist Church some 45 years ago and was baptized by the
hands of Elders J. W. Smith and Mont Williamson. She placed her membership with the Bent Branch Church and later
came to the Pilgrims Home Church as a Charter member.

(Williamson) Smith
She was the
daughter of John B. and Nancy Williamson and was born November 12, 1887, and
departed this life July 1, 1952.
She was married
to Jarrett Smith August 28, 1907. To
this union were born nine children, five girls and four boys, three of whom
preceded her in death, leaving, with the father, six children to mourn her
loss, namely: Mrs Brookie Scott, Mrs.
Lola Roberts and Earl Smith, of Hardy, KY; Carl Smith of Turkey Creek, KY, and
Mrs Hester Maynard, Mrs. Lakie Maynard of Citra, FL. She also leaves twenty grandchildren, one of which is with the
U.S. Air Force, J. C. Scott, stationed in Mississippi, and one brother Caudill
Williamson, of Varney, KY.
She joined the
Regular Baptist Church the third Sunday in August, 1919, and was baptized by
the hands of Elder Jonah Bevins, and placed her membership with the Pilgrims
Home Church.

Ella
(Aldridge) Gilman
Born March 3,
1894, she was the daughter of Sam and Nancy (Williamson) Aldridge, deceased
July 20, 1952, united in marriage to Hi Gilman December 12, 1913. To this union were born eleven children, one
son, Billy, passed away in infancy. and ten children with their father are
living to mourn the passing of mother.
The living children are: James,
Hi, Jr., Ernest Basel, Archie, Roy and Nannie Gilman, Mrs. Victoria Parsons,
Mrs. Magdalene Stratton and Mrs. Bertha Reek; two sisters: Mrs. Alice Young and Mrs. Oma Marcum,
fourteen grandchildren and a host of friends.
Sister Ella was baptized into the fellowship of the Regular Baptist
Church July 21, 1951, by the hands of Elders Emmette Case and S. B. Fraley, and
placed her membership with the Mary Elizabeth Church.

Young
It is with much
sadness that I attempt to write the obituary of a true and faithful brother,
to-wit: Lay Thomas Young, born March 18, 1902.
He was united in marriage to Ressie Bevins June 30, 1928, and to this
union were born seven children, namely:
Owen T., Bennet, Mildred, Janet, Dean, J. C. and Lillian.
Brother Young
confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized the third Saturday in May,
1947. He placed his membership with the
Bent Branch Church of Regular Baptist where he remained a faithful and loving
brother until death.
