2. KARL FREDERICK² MOEWS (AUGUST HENRY¹) was born July 04, 1866 in Malchow, Germany, and died July 18, 1922. He married MARIE THEUNNER in Germany. She was born October 30, 1869 in Germany, and died March 29, 1952 in Spring Valley, Bureau County, Illinois.

Karl, Marie and their first child, Anna, Were born in Germany. They lived in Granville, Il. After Karl died, Marie moved to a small cottage in Spring Valley, Il.

Ann "Dotty" Sharp Mitchell, youngest grandchild of the Karl Moews family, stated that she faintly remembers her grandmother, Marie, telling of their great concern for little Annie's health on the long journey to America. Many children became critically ill and died. It was necessary to bury them at sea.
